The Half-Skinned Steer

At Ashland Creek Press, we’re in the early stages of putting together an anthology of short stories that focus on “how the lives of animals and humans intersect, particularly in regards to the conservation and protection of animals.”

And so far we’ve been amazed by the quality and number of submissions received.

But if there was one story I wish we could get into the collection it would be this one, by E. Annie Proulx: The Half-Skinned Steer, published in The Atlantic.

If you’ve got 20 minutes to spare, give it a read. It’s not easily forgotten.

And If someone out there happens to know Ms. Proulx and wouldn’t mind forwarding along my publication request, I’d certainly welcome it.
